Peter Elkas

These photos kind of suck. I’m not happy at all with what I took at the show, but I promised myself I would blog more.

Dancing Guy Needs To Dance

Peter Elkas is having a good series of Tuesdays. Last week he released his third record Repeat Offender on Joel Plaskett’s New Scotland Records. Last night, Elkas played his first night of his five week residency at The Dakota Tavern in Toronto west-side. For the next five weeks, Elkas will be performing  every Tuesday, along with many guests, including Wayne Petti, The Pinecones, Christine Bougie, Alanna Stuart, Al Tuck, Ben Gunning, Rebekah Higgs, and a special guest. There’s rumours this special guest is Bruce Springstein, but I somehow don’t believe that. The Dakota Tavern is one of the best bars in the city, always a great place to hear music1, and the… Read More »Dancing Guy Needs To Dance

Linky Link

Happy Family Day! CityTV has an article on Eric Warner of We Are Busy Bodies. (via Jen Polk, via The Meligrove Band) Mechanical Forest Sound records the highlight of last night’s Wavelength 500… Barcelona Pavilion. Steregum reviews The Magnetic Fields at BAM. Jian Ghomeshi (did I spell that right?) got a lot of flack last night, and though I’m not a fan, he does put some good musicians on his show. See below…

Today, I said to myself that it was time to rebrand this page. Though it’s a personal page, it’s more about music/film/etc than it is about Adam Anklewicz. So after debating over many domains, I chose this one, “Never Had To Fight” is a Local Rabbits song written by Peter Elkas. It’s the second track on their final, and best record This Is It, Here We Go. I did this in the afternoon today, about an hour ago, I got a message in MSN from Jay… you know, Trig… from The Board. A while ago, I told him that Gooseberry records was doing a Sloan tribute album, and a… Read More »Rebranding

Egge & Elkas

I didn’t bring my camera tonight, but I went down to the Rivoli to see Anna Egge and Peter Elkas. Anna has a beautiful voice, and a handful of really good songs, but I’m not sure if I’m totally sold on her. Perhaps it’s partially because she kinda looks like a woman I work with, who I’m not too fond of. Perhaps it’s her songs. I dunno. Either way, her set was enjoyable, but nothing to write home about. She wins bonus points for the cover of Belle & Sebastian’s “A Summer Wasting” found on her MySpace. Peter’s set, however, was fabulous as always. His band were a three-piece, and… Read More »Egge & Elkas
