Where has your headlight gone
On Halloween, I returned to my car to find my baby girl (2000 Honda Civic) was injured. It was a bad night, fortunately, some lovely person saw what happened, and noted the plate number on an old TTC day pass. That person is a hero to me. Yesterday, I got my girl back, she’s doing fine, and the lovely folks at the body shop fixed her up real well. Today I got a call from the Toronto Police Service, telling me they “apprehended the vehicle and have laid charges.” I’m guessing they’re not charging the vehicle, but the person, but either way, I’m giddy! Road trip, anyone?
Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show
Oh my god! I haven’t seen anything this painful and hard to watch in a long time.
Went to one of the final nights of Wavelength. It was a “round robin” featuring way too many bands. Among them was Doctor Ew, aka Drew Smith of the Bicycles. It was nice to see a former Bicycle performing some new material.
FotC – “I Told You I Was Freaky”
Picked up this today, on vinyl. Awesome packaging. Most of these songs are known by everyone by now, thanks to the amazing TV show. Theres some definite highlights on this record, among them, “Sugalumps,” “Hurt Feelings” and “Carol Brown.” There’s also some filler, including “Angels.”
TWM – Cheap Speakers, Brent Randall & Mark Bragg
Another Tuesday night, another adventure at Rancho Relaxo, thanks to Dan Wolovick and his excellent booking skills, Rancho is the place to be. Unfortunately it has horrible lighting. Either way, The Cheap Speakers, Brent Randall & His Pinecones and Mark Bragg all played a great night.
SGU – Earth
Earth has a plan for the Destiny’s crew to finally get home… after only seven episodes. I have a feeling it won’t work. Focusing on Chloe and Eli mostly, it also throws more questions as to where Dr. Rush’s loyalties lie. The episode does seem to be a middle episode where not much of the story arch is moving along, but a lot of character development continues. I just worry that Dr. Rush is going to turn into a moustache twirling villain, if they don’t let us see more of his motivations. He’s no Baltar.
Julie Doiron at Lee’s Palace
Jennifer Polk (aka History Jen) reviewed October 27th’s Julie Doiron show with Herman Dune and Shotgun Jimmie. Check it out. Photos by me.
